The Erwin H. Ackerknecht correspondence contains the professional correspondence of Erwin H. Ackerknecht,first chair in the history of medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Ackerknecht (M.D University of Leipzig, 1931) became a full professor at University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1947 and remained until 1957. The correspondence in this collection is mostly from the years 1947 to 1954.
