Scope and Contents

Series I contains papers relating to operations and management of the recording studio, recording and disc pressing equipment, WVLR Radion station, and inquiries by artists about scheduling recording sessions. Materials date mostly from the 1970s through the 2000s. Subseries 2 contains materials about disc manufacturing and printing services including price lists, invoices and brochures. Subseries 3 contains materials relating to production of individual compact disc releases, such as correspondence, graphics, and invoices. Subseries 4 contains correspondence and contracts with other record labels regarding licensing of recordings. Subseries 5 contains papers about distribution arrangements and individual orders. Subseries 6 contains ledger cards created between 1959 and circa 1973 that document initial pressing runs for individual LPs and 45s, which roughly correlate with recording dates. Subseries VI contains lists of disc releases, published songs, master recordings, booking agencies, and recording studios.

Series II contains financial papers including ledgers and accounts (incomplete; 1970-1977), correspondence, and royalty statements mostly stemming from compact disc and internet sales.

Series III contains publishing agreements for Kirchstein Publishing Co. and Seven Sounds Publishing Co. (1960-1972), recording contracts (1960-1972; 2004-2005), artist royalty agreements (1963-1964), copyright certificates, and correspondence.

Series IV contains correspondence, school materials, calendars, notebooks, certificates of recognition relating to James Kirchstein.

Series V contains correspondence, clippings, and some photographs, mostly relating to individual Cuca recording artists.

Series VI contains commercially released recordings (LPs, 45s, cassettes, compact discs and video discs).
