Records created by the Institute for Urban Health
Partnerships, a research institute of the UWM School of Nursing. The Institute's
mission was to provide educational and clinical services to disadvantaged residents
of the city of Milwaukee and the surrounding communities, and to offer learning
opportunities for students enrolled in the nursing program at the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Most of the collection consists of grant proposals and
correspondence between the Institute and granting agencies, including the Milwaukee
chapter of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Milwaukee Public Schools,
Milwaukee Health Department, the United Way, and the Wisconsin Area Health Education
Center. Of particular interest are the participant interviews and surveys, and
evaluations of programs that focused on parenting, teenage pregnancy, women's
health, and adolescent female empowerment. Reports and meeting minutes generated by
the Institute's Board of Directors and staff, and the nursing and community programs
are also included.
