The records document the activities of the Board of Visitors
and the committees it appointed, to study and advise the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
(UWM) administration on many questions regarding the university. Minutes, annual reports,
correspondence, and research reports identify issues that the board studied, such as
recruitment and retention of minority students, collective bargaining, and relations with
the students, the public, and the business community. The records also contain information
regarding the creation of the Board of Visitors, the nomination of members, biographies of
board members, and bylaws.
