Abstract:
Records of the Department of Art and Design, which began life as the Wisconsin School of Art before being absorbed by the Wisconsin State Normal School and eventually becoming the Department of Art. Included are correspondence, faculty and committee minutes, scrapbooks, and exhibition planning materials. The collection also includes documentation of the Paintbox Art Center, the Works Progress Administration Handicraft Project, and activities of the Arts Students' League around the turn of the 20th Century.
