Access Restrictions

There are no access restrictions on the materials, and the collection is open to all members of the public in accordance with state law. However, researchers will need to make special arrangements to view the u-matic videocassettes.


Use Restrictions

The researcher assumes full responsibility for conforming with the laws of libel, privacy, and copyright which may be involved in the use of this collection (Wisconsin Statutes 19.21-19.39).


Acquisition Information

Frederick I. Olson donated portions of the collection to the Library in October 1980 and May 1985. Xavier Baron donated additional materials in August 2009 (accessions 2009-004 and 2009-008). The UWM Libraries' Media Library transferred additional materials in June 2013 (accession 2012-058).


Processing Information

Randy T. Bell processed the collection between February and July 1994. Julie Hatfield (supervised by Christel Maass) processed accessions 2009-004 and 2009-008 in May 2012, adding box 10 to the collection. Christel Maass updated the finding aid to include information about accession 2012-058 in August 2013. Shiraz Bhathena digitized and integrated the U-matic videotapes of Milwaukee Milwaukee in November 2021.


Deaccession Information

Michael Doylen discarded 36 reels of 16mm film (an estimated 20,000 feet) from the collection on April 29, 2008. The reels consisted of poor-quality outtakes of MHP filming from 1978 to 1979 in order to produce the program Made in Milwaukee, which premiered in June 1979.
