Abstract:
Miscellaneous records, largely created or compiled by Alan Corre, a department faculty member and chair. The correspondence files document the origin and early development of the department, and include letters and memoranda of the Ad Hoc Committee on Hebrew Studies, chaired by Robert F. Roeming, with the Wisconsin Society for Jewish Learning and the College of Letters & Science. The correspondence files also document the early development of the curriculum, funding, and staffing of the department. The records of the Arts and Humanities Divisional Executive Committee, dating from 1975-1977, document efforts to establish more effective procedures for tenure-track staff positions. The collection also contains miscellaneous records concerning the teaching of foreign language courses at UWM, and department histories and profiles.
