Abstract:
Contains the documents of Rudy Small, the chairman of the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Education Committee and an integral figure in UWGB’s history. A majority of the collection is made up of Small’s personal correspondences, committee reports, and the site selection for a new university, which later became UWGB. The general correspondences cover October of 1964 to July of 1969. Other correspondences include some to the Governor’s Office from 1964 to 1967 and some to Ed Weidner, the first chancellor of UWGB, from 1966 to 1969. The documents regarding the site selection cover nearly every aspect of the legal battle to get UWGB where it is today. Included in these documents are site comparisons, the controversy of the Shorewood site and eventual home of UWGB, and the legal battle from Outagamie County after Shorewood was selected.
