Torsten R. Hedengren was born in Finland and came to
the United States in 1913. After two years in New York, he was hired by Nordberg
Manufacturing Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as a diesel design engineer. He
fostered Scandinavian and U.S. yachting interests and was involved in bringing the
Scandinavian Gold Cup Race to the United States in 1927. Most of this collection
contains correspondence, documents and drafts relating to Hedengren’s research on
the history of the Queen’s Cup.
