Northtown Planning & Development Council Records, 1961-1974

Biography/History

Calls for the creation of the Northtown Planning & Development Council, Inc. (NPDC) began in 1961 to function as a private, non-profit organization that would concentrate on the redevelopment of the north side of Milwaukee. The NPDC was later incorporated in 1964. It focused approximately on the area from the Milwaukee River to 27th Street and between Highland and Keefe Avenues. Led largely by George J. Pazik, its goals were to study and undertake urban planning, redevelopment, rehabilitation, and improve the overall quality of life for the citizens living there. The NPDC ceased operations in 1974 due to lack of funds.
