Scope and Content Note: The majority of portrait series includes reproductions of many of the portraits that were either sketched or painted by Chase spanning the entire course of his career. The portraits are arranged alphabetically by the last name of the portraits subject. An alphabetical index of subjects is also included with the portrait prints (see index at end). The portraits are spread throughtout boxes 2–6, 10-11, 15. Oversized portraits are included in box 11 and the portraits in box 15 were more recently added. The series also includes a scrapbook of portraits and portrait lists that were generated by Chase. The portrait lists do not necessarily represent what can be found in the collection of prints.

Included in the materials are items relating to Adventures In Art; Approach To Art; Egyptian Sculpture; Face Value: an autobiography of the portrait painter; Modern Art; My Friends Look Better Than Ever, originally titled Deep In Our Hearts; New Era of Color Has Begun; Personal History of Art; and Soldiers All: Portraits and Sketches of the Men of the A. E. F., published by George H. Dorn Co., 1920. The materials are arranged alphabetically by the publication that they relate to.

Scope and Content Note: The Scrapbook series consists of four scrapbooks of varying contents that were included with the Chase collection. They include illustrations that Chase did for magazines and newspapers, portraits, and various clippings about and written by Chase. For preservation purposes the scrapbooks were unbound and the pages were interlaced with acid free paper between each page.
