This collection includes 5” x 7” and 8” x 10” black and white photographs and
negatives documenting the work being done on various Civil Works Administration
(CWA) projects in Milwaukee County in the winter of 1933-1934. The photographs
include improvements made at park and school sites, new construction, building
surveys, various grading projects, and other public works projects. Some photographs
of project administrators and workers are included as well. The duplicate
photographs are part of a “master file index” of the projects. All of the 5” x 7”
photographs are in scrapbooks. The series also contains files on each project, which
are reports that include correspondence from various bureau and department
superintendents, financial records, blueprints, maps, and photographs. Each
department submitted their project report to the Commissioner of the Department of
Public Works, R. E. Stoelting.
