Abstract: Papers, mainly 1963-1981, of Michael Lipsky and David J. Olson, two political scientists concerning their collaborative research on the urban race riots of the 1960s and Lipsky's separate research on rent strikes in New York City and materials documenting his involvement in the civil rights movement. The collection includes biographical information, editorial correspondence, exchanges with professional colleagues, research files, writings, and records documenting Lipsky’s work as special assistant to the chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as a consultant to Upward Bound and Action, and as a Freedom Summer volunteer in 1964.
