Interviews with 21 long-time residents of Madison, Wisconsin's east side tape recorded as part of an oral history project sponsored by the Atwood Community Center. Discussion concerns family life, community services, churches, work, education, social activities, the Depression, and many other topics. All but two of the interviews have brief abstracts.

Two interviews in the East Side History Project have restrictions on use: In the Amanda Schmelzer interview, no names from the segment on her first marriage may be cited, published, or broadcast. In the Adolph and Janet Weinshel interview, no names from the segment on Tape No. 1, Side 1 concerning unpleasant relationships between businessmen may be cited, published, or broadcast.
