Abstract:
The Older Americans Act of 1965 was the first federal level initiative aimed at providing comprehensive services for older adults. It created the National Aging Network which was comprised of the Administration on Aging at the federal level, State Units on Aging, and Area Agencies on Aging at the local level. The network provides funding based on the percentage of an area's population 60 and older for nutrition and supportive home and community based services.

Scope and Content Note

Title III project files, 1966-1975, and Racine Areawide Model Project (RAMP) grant materials, 1971-1973. This file pertains to all aspects of the records of completed projects funded under Title III of the Older Americans Act of 1965, including project applications and contracts by project year, all correspondence, detailed project expense records, narrative reports (i.e. monthly progress report on project activities), and the consultant's reports on project activities. The records also contain project applications for funds under Title III of the Older Americans Act which were not funded or which were not completed (i.e. terminated before the end of their project period). The RAMP materials include grant applications, research materials, reports, correspondence and clippings.
