Abstract:
Files relating to the Percent for Art program which was created by the State Legislature in 1979 under Chapter 221, Wis. Stats, and administered by the Board. This program provides funds to purchase or commission original works of art for buildings constructed by the state. Files contain the complete documentation of each phase of the project, including history, policy decisions, and staff research, and advisory committee recommendations.

Scope and Content Note: Photographs, releases, and field notes, 2006-2007, of a Wisconsin Arts Board program to create a photographic survey of Wisconsin labor. The program involved five photographers: Tim Abler, Dick Blau, David Heberlein, John Shimon, Julie Lindemann, and Jamie Young. Photos document workers within the context of their employment and show Wisconsinites doing their jobs, represent the range of employment oppurtunities in Wisconsin, and provide a slice of the life in Wisconsin labor. There are also digital files for many of the images and some of the field notes.
