Biography/History

The Merger Implementation Study Committee was created by Chapter 100, Laws of 1971. The seventeen-member committee studied the goals and problems associated with the proposed merger of Chapters 36 and 37, Wisconsin Statutues, to create a single, unified University of Wisconsin System. The committee presented its findings on the feasibility of merger to the University Board of Regents and the Legislature in January 1973.
