Abstract:
Correspondence, reports, and other administrative records of the superintendent, together with documentation created by administrators of predecessor agencies, the Wisconsin Industrial Home for Women and the Wisconsin Women's Prison. Also included are unpublished biennial and statistical reports; medical reports indicating the prevalence of sexually transmitted diseases, children born in the Medical Department, and other medical conditions; and monthly lists of inmates indicating name, age, offense, IQ, residence, and sentence, which are complete from 1928 to 1958. Files on rehabilitation including education, recreation, and religious programs are particularly strong, while information on financial and general institutional management is limited.
