Abstract:
Papers of William Webb of Lancaster, Wisconsin, consisting of correspondence concerning his well drilling business (1878-1880), letters from family and friends, a history of the family, and photograph of the family farm in Grant County, Wisconsin. Webb wrote many of his letters to family and friends in Grant County, Wisconsin; Galena, Illinois; and Houghton County, Michigan, while working in the iron mines in Upper Michigan (1873-1876). Also included are Webb's well drilling account books, 1876-1908, recording the date, location, depth, and amount of the transaction.
