Abstract:
Minutes, annual reports, scrapbooks, yearbooks (directories), history, articles of incorporation and bylaws of a Kenosha, Wisconsin, social, cultural, and community service organization made up of working and retired woman business owners, professionals, managers, civil servants, and office staff. Founded in 1928, the BPW of Kenosha affiliated with the Wisconsin Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs (Southeastern District No, 9) and the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Club, Inc., in 1931. The collection primarily documents club meetings and activities. Scrapbook material includes newspaper clippings; programs from Kenosha, neighboring group, and district meetings; and photographs. Photographs depict officers, members, and events such as the 1970 March of Dimes radio auction and a 1968 “Fashions in Nonsense” fashion show. There is a short home movie segment from an unidentified meeting, circa 1966. Summaries of members' vocations or job titles and places of employment can be found in scattered yearbooks, membership lists, and membership committee annual reports. A year-by-year history of the group to 1956 is included in the collection, as well as an abridged history which appears at the beginning of the 1952-53 yearbook.
