Abstract:
Interior and exterior views of four Madison, Wisconsin, residences of librarian Florence C. Hays: 216 S. Henry Street, 218 W. Gilman Street, The Irving (419 Sterling), and 432 Hawthorne. Hays served as a librarian for the Legislative Reference Library in the state Capitol and for the University of Wisconsin. After the time period represented by these photographs, Ms. Hays went to China to organize a library there, then returned to Wisconsin, and died in Milwaukee in 1965.
