Abstract:
Papers of Gunder Larsen, a Winnebago County farmer that emigrated to Wisconsin from Norway in 1849. Papers include Larsen's 12 diaries recording his family history and work experience. The diaries also include transcriptions of his Civil War experience serving with the 32nd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry describing his participation in battles including Sherman's March to the Sea. Also included are 2 photograph reprints and family history written by Larsen in 1915 and detailing his trade as a farmer with his father, Samuel, on neighboring farmland in Winchester, Wisconsin, during the mid-1800s. The family history also includes copies of Larsen's Civil War correspondence to his wife and children while serving in Tennessee and Alabama (1863-1864).
