Abstract:
Records of the Wisconsin section of the American Camping Association (ACA), a national professional camping organization with a mission to advance camping as an educational and recreational experience, further the professional standards of camp operation, exchange information among camp professionals, and serve as the voice for camp leaders in national and local affairs. Also included is documentation of Camp Robinhood, an ACA affiliated camp for girls that operated between 1933 and 1956 in Sherwood Forest (Green Lake, Wisconsin), including a film, DVD, and photographs.

Scope and Content Note: The original collection contains some form correspondence to members (1949-1966), a 1950 annual report, issues of the Badger Tracks newsletter (1949-1966), two informational handouts (1949) relating to camp cookery and craft activities, state conference materials (1949, 1965), and state directories to member camps (1971, 1973-1974). There are also occasional materials from the national and regional office.

Scope and Content Note: Additions, 1941-1987, consisting of correspondence, mailing lists, membership rosters, committee minutes and information, materials relating to Project REACH, training materials, and several issues of their newsletter, Badger Tracks. Also included is documentation of Camp Robinhood, an ACA affiliated camp for girls that operated between 1933 and 1956 in Sherwood Forest (Green Lake, Wisconsin) consisting of several brochures detailing the activities available at the camp, a typed history by former campers, a copy of the Robinhood Record (December, 1941), several pieces of memorabilia, one 11 minute film from 1941, one DVD, and 373 photographs taken at the camp (dates unknown). The film (in color and silent) shows various camp scenes and campers including the activities offered. The DVD, titled “Wisconsin Section of the ACA: A Tribute to Leadership,” is narrated by Julia Brown. It focuses on the history of organized camping in Wisconsin and shows various awards being presented to Wisconsin directors and members.
