Abstract:
Papers of Jerry Tecklin, a civil rights worker in Mississippi for the Freedom Summer of 1964. The collection includes scattered correspondence, leaflets and flyers, freedom newsletters, and research material and reports. Tecklin worked in Sunflower and Bolivar Counties, and accumulated printed material; statistics, especially agricultural figures; political data; and hand-written notes about all aspects of life in the two counties. Using his research material, he wrote periodic reports which were submitted to the Atlanta office of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. These reports and research material present detailed information about the Freedom Summer in Bolivar and Sunflower Counties.
