Papers collected by Davis, reflecting his interests and activities with civil rights in Mississippi, student radicalism, the Students for a Democratic Society, and community organization. Davis, a Ph.D. candidate in philosophy at the University of Michigan in 1968, was a member of VOICE, the Michigan SDS chapter, and also interested in local problems, such as those represented by the Ann Arbor Tenants' Union and rent strike. In 1965 he canvassed for the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party in Jackson, Mississippi, and in the summer of 1966 he was active with the Cleveland Community Project (he was working for SDS at the time). The papers include flyers and leaflets, papers presented at conferences, other writings by Davis, a few letters, and University of Michigan student government brochures.
