Biography/History
The Milwaukee chapter of the Malopolan Club (Klub Malopolan), formed in December 1944 by charter members Thaddeus Borun, John and Aniela Knap, and Julius Bukalski, for Americans whose ancestors came from the southern part of Poland, Malopolska (formerly Galicia). The club was founded to preserve Polish traditions and culture, to provide financial assistance to Polish villages, and for social events. In particular, the club maintained Polish customs and celebrations for holidays and special religious occasions.
Scope and Content Note
The records include one volume of minutes of meetings, all in Polish, from 1971 until the club's dissolution in 1979; a membership list, 1966 (with a few updates), which includes a record of correspondence written; a 10th anniversary album, 1954; four dues or contribution books of individual members, each with a printed club constitution; and miscellaneous.
