Biography/History

Dennis J. Conta, Democratic assemblyman representing the 25th District (North Milwaukee), was born in Milwaukee, March 24, 1940. After completing his education at Ripon College (B.A., 1962), University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (M.S.W., 1966), and Harvard University (M.P.A., 1968), Conta was employed by the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce as an urban affairs consultant. In addition, he was a project director for the Peace Corps, and a lecturer in business administration at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In 1968 Conta was elected to his first term in the Assembly, and he has been reelected every two years since. He has served on public welfare and finance committees, councils on drug abuse and the Milwaukee public school system, and advisory committees on health planning and policy and on no-fault insurance.

Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of Conta's legislative subject files, which include reference materials, reports, notes and a small amount of correspondence.
