Abstract:
Papers of Wegener, an opera tenor who was raised in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, including his reminiscences and autobiography, recorded reminiscences and songs, and three scrapbooks of reviews concerning his performances in operas and concerts and articles about his career. The reminiscences concern Wegener's youth and his career which included performances across the U.S., voice study and performing in Germany (1890-1893 and 1907-1912) and in England (1912-1914), and heading the Vocal Dept. at Marquette University (1918-1930). He describes his acquaintance with producer Henry W. Savage in the U.S. and with Professor Joseph Joachim in Germany.
