Scope and Content Note

The ministerial book of the Lodi Hauge Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1878-1920, records baptisms, confirmations, communions, marriages, and deaths. The records also include the church's certificate of organization dated 1878, a list of the members of the congregation, and the ministerial report for 1920.

The baptismal records give the name, dates of birth and baptism, and the names of the parents and witnesses. Records of confirmation include name, age, place of baptism, date of confirmation, and the names of the parents. Persons who were to be confirmed were also rated as to their degree of preparedness and their standing in the church. Registrations of communion give the dates, names, and number of communicants. Marriage records contain the dates of the wedding, the names and ages of bride and groom, their places of baptism, and the names and residences of the witnesses. Records concerning funeral services give the names, ages, and dates of death and burial of the deceased, and the places of their births and deaths.
