Abstract:
Lantern slides used by International Harvester's Agricultural Extension Department for educational purposes. International Harvester established the IHC Service Bureau as an "agricultural education" section within its Advertising Department in 1911. In 1913, the Bureau was reorganized as a separate Agricultural Extension Department under the direction of Professor Perry G. Holden. The Department was dissolved in 1933.

Physical Description: 6.4 c.f. (16 negative boxes) 
Scope and Content Note: Lantern slides used by International Harvester's Agricultural Extension Department. The slides feature agricultural scenes, gardening, schools, corn, home canning, poultry, house flies, cows, pigs, sheep, birds, historical scenes, and portraits of people. Some of the slides are hand tinted with color. The department used the slides for presentations on the healthful effects of gardens for school children, methods of home canning, scientific methods of corn production, home health, crop diversification, cultivation of alfalfa, and other topics.
