Abstract:
Research material gathered by Thomas Ploss of Chicago, Illinois, for his book The Nation Pays Again, an unfavorable record of the dissolution of his former employer, the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul, and Pacific Railroad (The Milwaukee Road). Files include reports to stockholders, Interstate Commerce Commission briefs and exhibits, Securities and Exchange Commission hearing transcripts and audio recordings, and internal records of the Burlington Northern Railroad, whom Ploss considered an antagonist. There are also some notes and correspondence related to drafts of the book and the personalities involved in the case.
