Abstract:
Files used by Sandra Lichty in her Ph.D. research at the University of Wisconsin for the County Mental Health Hospital Project. Principal investigator was Dr. Peter Weiss and project director was Dr. Martin Loeb. Materials concern the condition of mental health care centers in Wisconsin in the 1960s. This research into hospitals, clinics, and homes at the county level includes interviews with administrators, social workers, and other staff; records of patient populations and related costs; and needs assessments developed through public hearings and committees. Files also contain the subsequent recommendations and action plans by region, and related academic publications and papers.
