Abstract:
Records of the Wisconsin Peace Council, headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, and an affiliate of the Emergency Peace Campaign, documenting their “No Foreign War Crusade” in the mid-1930s. The Wisconsin Peace Council was chaired by the Reverend George L. Collins, and was one of 37 local organizations that were to serve as focal points to coordinate local peace activities enlisting the help of churches, women’s groups, luncheon clubs, veterans associations, labor unions, and school and university organizations. In addition, there were twenty-five regional offices in most of the larger urban areas throughout the state. The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence with the regional offices but also included are mailings from the national organization, news clippings, and publicity materials.
