Papers, approximately 1965-1971, of Ted Finman, a University of Wisconsin law professor, containing research materials collected for a study conducted with Stewart Macaulay of the protests, both lawful and illegal actions, against the war in Vietnam, and on governmental response to those protests at the national, state and local levels. Other information includes correspondence with and information from university administrators, city officials, police departments, lawyers, protests groups, and others.

Scope and Content Note

The papers consist of primary source materials, in the form of questionnaires sent to several hundred anti-war and peace groups in the United States, as well as associated correspondence, clippings, and legal documents. The collection also contains clipping files arranged by subject consisting of data gathered during and immediately after the period in which particular protests occurred.
