Abstract:

Records of the La Crosse branch of The Association of University of Wisconsin Faculties and its predecessors, the Association of Wisconsin Normal School Teachers, Association of Wisconsin Teachers Colleges, Association of Wisconsin State College Faculties, and the Association of Wisconsin State University Faculties. The records consist of constitutions, membership lists, meeting minutes, president's correspondence, and committee records. The bulk of the collection documents the participation of its members and the organization's policies representing the interests of faculty at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

The La Crosse chapter of the Association of University of Wisconsin Faculties is a professional organization representing the interests of University of Wisconsin-La Crosse faculty. Originally organized as the Association of Wisconsin Normal School Teachers, there have been a number of name changes reflecting the changing nature of the institutions themselves: Association of Wisconsin Teachers Colleges, Association of Wisconsin State College Faculties, and the Association of Wisconsin State University Faculties. In 1971, with the merger of the State Universities, the organization took its present name.

The records of TAUWF-La Crosse are divided into three series corresponding to the organization's changing nature and corresponding name changes: EARLY RECORDS, ASSOCIATION OF WISCONSIN STATE UNIVERSITY FACULTIES, and THE ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN FACULTIES.

The EARLY RECORDS (1920-1964) consists of a journal (1932-1958) which documents the period before the State University system and also includes membership lists, constitutions and by-laws, and meeting minutes.

The ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN FACULTIES (1964-1971) series consists of membership lists, constitutions and by-laws, and meeting minutes as well as president's correspondence (1964-1965, 1970-1972) and committee files.

The ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN FACULTIES (1971-1974) series consists of membership lists, constitutions and by-laws, and meeting minutes.
