The municipal court of Fond du Lac County was established as a court of record in 1921. The law conferred upon the court the jurisdiction of a justice of the peace in criminal and paternity matters, exclusive jurisdiction of offenses under the ordinances of the city of Fond du Lac, jurisdiction exclusive in the city and concurrent in the rest of the county of offenses, not punishable by more than 6 months' imprisonment or by $100 fine or both, and jurisdiction in civil actions at law for the recovery of sums less than $1,000. An amendment in 1933 gave to the court jurisdiction equal to and concurrent with the circuit court in criminal cases in which the penalty did not exceed 2 years imprisonment in the State Prison, $1,000 fine, or both.

In 1966 constitutional amendments abolished this permitted municipal court. Exclusive jurisdiction of municipal ordinance violations with monetary penalties was then granted to the City of Fond du Lac Municipal Court. Other civil matters were then heard by the County Court Branch II.

Numerical by file number. However, cases on each reel are often arranged by the highest case number to the lowest case number. For example, Reel 57 begins with case number 20720 and ends with case number 20322.
