Abstract:

Files of Mayors Edwin F. Weis (1944-1957) and Victor P. Capelle (1957-1958) including correspondence, minutes and proceedings of various city boards, reports, and other materials, some dating back to 1925.. Much material deals with routine city functions such as police and fire protection, recreation, and planning. Other material deals with post-World War II housing problems, communicable diseases, and civil defense. As a developing industrial city with a limited underground water supply the city also had a serious pollution problem. After 1958, Fond du Lac adopted a city manager form of government.
