Abstract:
An enumeration of the value of real and personal property in the township as assessed for the purpose of collecting property taxes. The assessment roll typically includes a legal description of the property (for real estate), name of the property owner, and assessed valuation. At different times, the assessment roll has provided a more detailed enumeration of the exact property being assessed, dividing real estate into several categories such as residential or agricultural and dividing personal property into categories such as livestock, carriages, or merchants and manufacturers stock.
