The Sarah Newport collection includes
drafts of an unpublished book by Newport titled Exiting the Mainstream. It also
includes audio cassettes of oral histories with members of the lesbian communtiy in Dane
County, Wisconsin, which provided content for the book. Also included are the release forms
for the oral history interviews. English

Conditions Governing Access
The collection is closed for 25 years, until 10-25-2043. Several of the names in the book
and drafts of the book as well as in other materials throughout the collection are
pseudonyms and some of the release forms for the interviews are not signed. If all release
forms are signed and all pseudonyms are identified, the 25 year restriction will be lifted
(whichever comes first) and other noted access/use restrictions mentioned on the release
forms will be honored as appropriate.

responsible for determining the rights status of the materials they use. Permission may be
required for some uses such as publication or reproduction.
