The John Kutzbach papers document the academic and professional activities of Professor John Kutzbach at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences between 1966 and 2002 and the Nelson Institute Center for Climatic Research of which he was at one point the director. Kutzbach's work ranged from analysis of atmospheric circulation to paleoclimate studies in which he investigated the role of earth's orbit in producing climatic phenomena as well as the effects of emerging geographic features on weather patterns. Kutzbach's work included collaborations across a number of academic disciplines and the helped improve the quality of climate models and projections. The unprocessed collection contains four and a half linear feet of Kutzbach's general files, one and half linear feet of course materials, two and a half linear feet of activity reports, one foot of bound publications, and a small number of photographs.
