Biography/History

Rita Tallent Picken, spouse of Bernard Tallent, Dean of the University of Wisconsin—Kenosha Extension became the Assistant to the Chancellor at UW-Parkside at its founding, invited by Parkside’s first Chancellor, Irvin Wyllie. Picken served most notably as Director of High School Relations and Director of School and Talent relations from 1968-1976. She later married Bob Picken, a Chicago businessman.

Scope and Content Note

Papers include a small amount of Rita Tallent Picken’s personal papers and correspondence, correspondence and records of the activity of Bernard Tallent and the foundation named in his honor, papers related to the pre-history of UW-Parkside, Parkside’s early history and more extensively, Capsule College, a continuing education program for women.
