Biography/History

The Heritage Chorale of Milwaukee is a choral and vocal music group focused on the performance and representation of African American musicians, composers and arrangers. Formed in 1982, their mission promoted and honored the legacy and accomplishments made by classical musicians of color and exposed people to spiritual music. The Heritage Chorale of Milwaukee was highly recognized in Milwaukee with performances at Carnegie Hall and across Europe for over 30 years. They have appeared with Mercer Ellington, the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Present Music, the Florentine Opera and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. The Heritage Chorale of Milwaukee performed for the last time in September 2011 with a program named "From Mozart to Motown - A 28-Year Journey."

The collection includes programming materials and event brochures for choral and vocal performances held in the city of Milwaukee from 1982-2011.
