Block-Printed Wall Hangings, circa 1935 to 1943
Physical Description: Two block-printed wall hangings. One textile features characters from Lewis Carroll's
: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland  in the center panel. Multiple border designs include repeat patterns of the Dormouse, the Gryphon and Mock Turtle, and Bill the Lizard. It measures 36 x 34 in. It is stamped: "W.P.A. Handicraft Project / Sponsored by / Milwaukee State Teachers College." There is no item number. The other textile is an African design with two gazelles in the center panel. This design is possibly by Barbara Warren. It measures 33 x 50 ¾ in. It is stamped: "W.P.A. Handicraft Project / Sponsored by / Milwaukee State Teachers College / Milwaukee, Wisc." There is no item number.
