Abstract:
Unpublished musical scores, mostly classical pieces, written by a former professor of music at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and its predecessor institutions. Most of the scores are undated.

Biography/History

Tillema studied in Berlin before World War I, and was a music teacher at the Milwaukee Normal School from 1915-1918. He was president and general manager of the Tillema Candy Company from 1918-1930. He returned as a music teacher at the Normal School in 1926 (which became UWM in 1956), and retired from UWM in 1962. Tillema died in 1987.

The Tillema family donated the collection to the Golda Meir Library's Music Department on 7 October 1987. The Music Department transferred the collection to the Archives in 1995 (accession 1995-023).
