Biography/History

Will H. Rockett served in many capacities during his career, publishing articles and books, directing radio scripts and dramas, and teaching writing. Rockett also served as writer, producer, and director for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation from 1969 to 1978 and as editor or contributing editor for several periodicals, including Aramco World Magazine. He was chair and associate professor for the Department of Communication at Seton Hall University, and dean of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities and professor of Communication at State University of New York, Fredonia. Rockett was appointed dean of fine arts at UW-Milwaukee in June 1992. He died on September 2, 1993.

Scope and Content Note

Papers of a former UW-Milwaukee dean of the School of Fine Arts. The majority of the collection contains unpublished manuscripts encompassing film, theater, poetry, and popular culture. Also included are several folders of Canadian Broadcasting System (CBC) radio documentaries, as well as several audio recordings featuring Rockett. The collection also contains lecture materials, and course outlines and class notes.

Brooke Maroldi, Will Rocket's widow, donated the collection to the Archives in February 1995 (accession 1994-020).

The collection was processed at the Archives sometime before 2002. Dan Vinson re-created the finding aid in March 2008.
