The club was organized at the Milwaukee State Teachers College to advance the interests of women; contribute to the well-being and professional growth of the women of the faculty, staff, and student body; and to promote the general welfare of the College.

The organization was called the Faculty Women's Club of Milwaukee State Teachers College until 1951 when the college became Wisconsin State College, Milwaukee.
