Abstract:
Collection contains records relating to the faculty meetings and the Faculty Senate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and its predecessor institutions. These records include correspondence, meeting minutes, agendas, and calendars. The documents reflect topics such as course and curriculum development, student life, enrollment, and issues of concern to the faculty. Four subcommittees are included in the records: Budget Committee, Calendar Committee, Grievance Procedures and Policies Committee, and Rules Committee.

Biography/History

The faculty of the Milwaukee State Teachers College began meeting in September 1932. It was not until the fall of 1969 that the title Faculty Senate was used, thirteen years after the creation of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Acquisition Information

An unknown donor donated the collection to the Archives prior to 1989.


Processing Information

Michele Christian processed the collection at the Archives in May 1997. Jessica Sawinski processed additional material in December 2006. Charles Welborn processed additional material in July 2012. Ashlie Biddle (supervised by Brad Houston) added some miscellaneous items to the collection in April 2017 (box 5). Christel Maass added some additional minutes, removed from a Library Director accession (2006-070) to the collection in November 2017. Christel Maass added some additional materials from accession 2017-042 to the collection in September 2018.
