Abstract:

Miscellaneous records documenting the activities of the Alumni Association of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) and its predecessor institutions. The collection includes articles of incorporation and by-laws, correspondence, programs, and meeting minutes and reports of the association, the board of trustees, and various committees. The collection also contains class lists of graduates (1886-1966).

Alumni Association members include alumni from UWM and its predecessor institutions, the Wisconsin State Normal School, Milwaukee (1885-1927), the Milwaukee State Teachers College (1927-1951), the Wisconsin State College, Milwaukee (1951-1956), and the UW Extension Division (1920-1956). Alumni began to hold regular meetings as early as 1904. The UWM Alumni Association was incorporated in November 1965.

Publications of the Alumni Association include: the Alumni Report (1965-1968), Alumni News (1969-1983), Kenwood (1983-1988), and UWM Today (1988-present).

The files are organized alphabetically, then chronologically.

Acquisition Information

An unknown individual transferred the collection to the Archives prior to 1989.

Processing Information

Christel T. Maass processed the collection at the Archives in September 1995. Brad Houston added some additional material in November 2014. Shiraz Bhathena integrated publications, which formerly lived on reading room shelves, into the collection in December 2023.
