Biography/History
Larry Alan Sakar was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1950. For nearly 34 years Sakar
worked at M&I Bank in the records management department. He took an interest in
Milwaukee's rapid transit system at a young age and studied its history for years.
Sakar has also written several books on the subject.
Scope and Content Note
The collection consists entirely of an unpublished manuscript by Larry Sakar, titled
"The Complete History of the Milwaukee Rapid Transit Line From TMER&L to
Speedrail" which was completed in 2017. It deals with the development of the various
rapid transit lines in Milwaukee and how they came to an end.
