Walter Alexander was a mechanical engineer, professor
and assistant football coach from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The collection consists of
handwritten correspondence, postcards, and a personal diary, as well as some
typewritten university records.

Biography/History
Walter Alexander was born in Scotland on 22 January 1872. The family moved to
Milwaukee in 1873. Walter attended public schools in Milwaukee and graduated from
the University of Wisconsin in 1898 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He
married Daisy C. Moore of Illinois in 1898. Walter was captain of the UW varsity
crew, assistant football coach, instructor in engineering through 1900. From
1900-1901 he was professor of mechanical engineering at Armour Institute in Chicago.
Walter passed away 20 January 1955 in Florida.

The collection consists of handwritten correspondence, postcards, and a personal
diary, as well as some typewritten university records.

folder.
